Implant Surgery

Posted on 2/6/2023 by Team at Frank Dunlap
Implant surgeryDental implants are designed to offer alternative solutions to missing teeth. When faced with missing teeth, most people are stunned as they knock down their confidence. Dentists place implants directly into the jawbone to offer an artificial replacement for the missing teeth. Additionally, dental implants support crowns and dentures similarly to the roots supporting their respective natural teeth. Our dentist offers tailored solutions to patients depending on their prevailing conditions and desired results. Depending on your budget and preferences, you can opt for a single implant or several in a single procedure. Our dentist is specialized in fitting three major types of dental implants as listed below.

Endosteal Implants

These types of implants are the most used procedures and safest of the three. The ease of their fitting suits most patients; however, they require a good and healthy jawbone for their installation. Endosteal implants are screw-like shaped posts that are put into the same jaw that false teeth are fitted. Once fitted, endosteal implants take quite a shorter time to heal as they need very little time to fuse and create a stronghold.

Subperiosteal Implants

These implants are quite different from the endosteal implants in that they aren't fitted into the jawbone but rest on top of the bone under the gum. The subperiosteal implants are fitted by placing a metal frame with a post attached under the gum. Once the gum heals, they hold the false teeth secured by the poles. In most cases, patients who defy the first form of dental implants or those who don't have enough jawbone for the implants to get fitted in them are recommended for this type of implants procedures.

Zygomatic Implants

Zygomatic implants are the last alternative to the two types mentioned above of implant procedures, as complex procedures characterize them. They are least preferred when the patient has insufficient jawbones for the Endosteal implant. In Zygomatic implants, the procedure involves fitting implants in the patient's cheekbone, hence the procedure's complexity.

Our dentist is well versed with the technology and experience to fit the three types of dental implants. Contact us today and schedule your consultation!
